Douglas Wilson is the founder and principal of Alexander Wilson Consulting L.LC., a political and public affairs company. Wilson has worked in the political and community outreach for more than 16 years as an advocate and organizer in the faith based, non-profit, civic engagement and mobilization. He has worked for many political campaigns, serving as the late Senator Kay Hagan's State Political Director during the 2014 Midterm Election where African American turnout was the highest point for a midterm election in N.C.  Wilson served as Regional Field Director for President Barack Obama’s campaign in the SC Democratic Primary, and as the State Director of Constituency Outreach in SC during the 2008 Presidential General Election. He is also the former Deputy Executive Director for the North Carolina Democratic Party and  also served as the political director from 2012-2014 and  the Second Vice Chair for the State Party from 2011-2012.  His work in politics has allowed him to establish relationships with key staff members of the DNC, DSCC and DCCC and other political organizations during his 15 years in federal, state and local politics.  He has also appeared on local media outlets such as WCNC Flashpoint and WSOC in Charlotte, Capital Tonight on Spectrum TV and has also been quoted in print media such as POLITICO, New York Times, Washington Post, The Hill, Newsy, The Daily Beast, USA Today, The Grio, Charlotte Observer, New and Observer and Reuters. Wilson also serves as Senior Advisor with the Peter Damon Group, a prominent bipartisan government affairs firm located in Washington, DC.

Wilson was appointed by Anthony Foxx, former mayor of Charlotte, NC to serve on the Charlotte Relations Committee in 2011 and again in 2014 by Mayor Clodfelter.  He was appointed by the Charlotte City Council in 2018 to serve on the Charlotte Zoning Board of Adjustment. He also serves as the chairman of the board of directors for the New Rural Project, an organization that works with young and minority citizens in rural communities to amplify their voices in the political process. In the fall of 1999, Mr. Wilson was initiated into the Theta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at the University of South Carolina-Columbia.  Mr. Wilson published his first book in 2011 entitled "The Sacrifice" in which he discusses his experience on the 2007-08 Obama Campaign.

Wilson received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of South Carolina-Columbia in 2001 and his master’s in health administration from Pfeiffer University-Charlotte in 2005.  In 2013 he received a graduate certificate in Healthcare Information Technology from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.  Douglas and his wife, the former Tosha Roberson reside in Charlotte, NC.
